CHURCH
What does it truly mean to be the church? This powerful exploration of Hebrews 10:23-25 challenges us to reconsider our understanding of Christian community and purpose. We discover that church isn't about coffee, entertainment, or feeling good—it's about two essential missions: evangelism and edification. The foundational truth remains simple yet profound: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. This confession forms the bedrock upon which everything else is built. We're reminded that the gospel isn't merely loving our neighbor, as beautiful as that commandment is. The gospel is the good news that Jesus came, died for our sins, and rose again according to the scriptures. We can love our neighbors perfectly and still face eternity without Christ if our sins aren't covered by His blood. The message confronts the popular notion of being a 'Lone Ranger Christian'—someone who claims to follow Jesus without needing the church. This attitude reveals itself as both selfish and unbiblical. If we've grown spiritually, the church needs us to help others. If we're still growing, we need the church to help us. Either way, we belong together. As the day of Christ's return approaches and we witness increasing chaos, persecution, and evil in our world, we need each other more than ever. The scattered member of the herd becomes easy prey—and Satan knows it.
