FREEDOM FELLOWSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH

“What About Church?” Part 3

Mar 11, 2026    Dr Sam Murray

This powerful teaching on the nature of the church challenges us to move beyond a solitary faith and embrace the beautiful design God has for His body of believers. Drawing from Romans 12, we're reminded that the church isn't just an optional gathering—it's a divinely orchestrated body where each member plays a vital role. Just as our physical bodies have eyes, hands, and feet that work together, we as believers are interconnected with different gifts and abilities that complement one another. Some of us teach, others encourage, some give generously, while others show mercy. The beauty lies not in trying to be something we're not, but in fully embracing the unique gifts God has given us. When we attempt to be 'Lone Ranger Christians,' we rob ourselves of the collective strength, accountability, and joy that comes from genuine fellowship. We miss out on weeping with those who weep and rejoicing with those who rejoice. The teaching also addresses the crucial aspect of church discipline found in Matthew 18, showing us that accountability isn't about judgment but restoration. When conflicts arise, we're called to address them directly and lovingly, with the ultimate goal of restoring fellowship. This isn't about being busybodies, but about being a body that's truly busy serving God together, supporting one another through life's challenges, and growing more Christ-like every day.
