“What About Church?” Part 5
This powerful message takes us deep into Galatians chapter 6, exploring what it truly means to be part of the body of Christ. We're reminded that being a Christian isn't a solo journey - the idea that we can worship God in our own way without needing the church reveals a heart in rebellion against His design. The church serves two critical functions: evangelism and edification. Just as a newborn baby needs nurturing and care, new believers need spiritual family to help them grow. The passage beautifully illustrates how we're called to restore those who fall into sin with a spirit of meekness and humility, not pride or judgment. We learn about two different types of burdens - those too heavy for one person to carry alone, where we need each other's help, and our personal responsibilities that we must each bear ourselves. The military wisdom of 'watch your lane' resonates here: we shouldn't compare our spiritual growth to others but focus on our own walk with Christ. Yet paradoxically, as we grow spiritually mature, we should naturally desire to help others grow too. This isn't about keeping score or being superior - it's about genuine love flowing from hearts transformed by Jesus. We're challenged to seize opportunities when the Holy Spirit prompts us to serve, especially within the household of faith, trusting that God positions people in our lives for divine purposes.
