“Ziklag”
What happens when everything we have built, everything we love, is suddenly gone? In 1 Samuel 30, we find ourselves standing in the ashes of Ziklag alongside a group of battle-hardened men who have returned home to find destruction where there was once life. Their families are gone, their city is burned, and the very men who followed their leader are now whispering about turning against him. Yet in the middle of this devastation, we discover one of the most powerful spiritual principles in all of Scripture: the ability to encourage ourselves in the Lord our God. This message challenges us to recognize that every one of us has a Jerusalem, a purpose, a destination that God has ordained for our lives. But the road to that Jerusalem almost always runs directly through Ziklag. The trials we never planned for, the losses we never anticipated, the seasons that feel like pure destruction are not detours from God's plan. They are the very path He has chosen to prepare us for what is ahead. We are invited to hold onto three anchors when Ziklag comes: the reality that God's Spirit lives within us, the conviction that there is a cause worth pressing forward for, and the bold declaration that all the earth may know there is a God who is present and active in our lives.
