“Prayer - Listen”
What if the most powerful thing we could do in prayer is simply stop talking? That is the challenging and deeply rewarding invitation at the heart of this message. Drawing from Ecclesiastes 5, we are reminded that when we enter the presence of God, we are called to be more ready to hear than to speak. Solomon observed people flooding the temple with requests, vows, and sacrifices, yet missing the most essential posture of all: listening. The message draws a striking contrast between the noise of our daily lives and the quiet, attentive spirit God desires from us. We are reminded that God speaks to us in three distinct ways: through His Word, through the circumstances of our lives, and through fellow believers. Each of these channels requires us to slow down, pay attention, and cultivate what 1 Thessalonians 4:11 describes as studying to be quiet. This is not passive silence but an active, intentional discipline that costs us something. It costs us time, stillness, and the willingness to set aside our own agendas. The reward, however, is immeasurable: a deeper, more intimate walk with God where divine instruction becomes something we can truly absorb.
