“Prayer - Petition”
What does it truly mean to bring our personal needs before God? This message takes us deep into the often-overlooked practice of petition, the part of prayer where we are invited to place our own desires, needs, and longings directly before the Lord. Drawing from the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, we see a woman so desperate and sincere in her need that she prayed silently at the altar, her lips moving but no sound coming out, pouring out her soul with such intensity that the priest mistook her for someone who had been drinking. Her prayer was specific, persistent, and utterly sincere. And God answered. The same God who heard Hannah hears us. Petition is not selfishness. It is an acknowledgment of our helplessness in a specific matter. It is saying to God, I cannot do this on my own. That kind of honesty before God is not weakness. It is the very posture that invites his power into our lives.
